Congratulations goes out to Vern Gerhardt and his team for putting on quite possibly the greatest Play On tournament to date! 

 

It certainly was the largest in Canada thus far, with a record setting 352 teams participating with an equally impressive amount of referees and volunteers giving up their weekends to take part in this prestigious event!   There are many SO many congrats, kudos, and deep appreciations that must be mentioned here.

 

First, our Metro officials.  Our league supplied the majority of referees for the weekend, and they came thru with flying colors!  How often do you get to say that about the zebras?  lol

 

Also, what event of this magnitude would be possible without volunteers?  Metro was very honored and pleased to be called upon to supply the volunteers to assist Vern and his team in ensuring that this tournament came off without a hitch!  And they did.  So much so, we've been asked if we'd be interested in shipping our "team" off to other Play On events quite the honor!

 

Thank yous go out to all our Metro volunteers who stepped up, but special mention must be made of Dennis Davison, Shawna Maddison, Tom Plett and Mike Bouwmeester, whose efforts were above and beyond the call. 

 

And finally the teams and players themselves.  Good times and lasting friendships were had and enjoyed by all.  Metro teams and players, men, women, and juniors all expressed their sincere appreciation and enjoyment of this event.   Many were able to take home division titles,  ... and already looking forward to next year's tournament!
